What are Crowns and Bridges?

Crowns are porcelain restorations used to restore teeth that are broken, chipped, misshapen, decayed, severely worn-down, or teeth that have very large worn out restorations (fillings, inlays, onlays).

Bridges are porcelain restorations used to replace missing teeth in cases where there are remaining teeth in front of and behind the missing tooth.

Crowns Ready in a Single Appointment

Crowns are ceramic dental restorations that are placed on the top of teeth typically after a procedure such as a root canal.

Crowns are also used to attach bridges, cover implants, prevent a cracked tooth from becoming worse, or an existing filling in jeopardy of becoming loose or dislocated. Crowns also serve an aesthetic use and are applied when a discolored or stained tooth needs to be restored to its natural appearance.

In our office, using Cerec 3D, a restorative crown is done in a single appointment, start to finish. Additionally, the metal-free ceramic material used with Cerec 3D closely match the composition of your natural tooth structure.

There is no “goop” impression tray to deal with. The Cerec 3D software takes the digital picture and converts it into a 3-dimensional virtual model on the computer screen. Dr. Stender then uses his dental expertise to design your restoration using the Cerec 3D computer program. About 40 minutes later, your all ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and ready to bond in place.
